Ruggeri

Francesco Ruggeri

Francesco Ruggieri (1645-1700) was a student of Nicola Amati and worked as a resident apprentice in Amati’s workshop. He is known for combining the tradition of the Cremonese school with quite innovative ideas to improve the tonal quality and the beauty of the instruments he made. The result were quite broad cellos with elevated arching and widened f-holes. The sound is sophisticated and wonderfully rich and clear.
